Brief Litanies to Open and Close Meetings

11/4/2022

A brief litany to open and close meetings in the Trialogue dioceses.

Opening Prayer

We gather together in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ to accomplish the task(s) set before us. May we come together with humble hearts and ears to listen to the words being given to us by Jesus, the head of the church.
Brief silence

I am your servant; give me
Understanding,
So I may know your decrees.  Psalm 119:125

Let us pray.
Almighty God, we come before you asking grace and wisdom for all who are called to discern your mission for the church in Wisconsin. May we listen to one another in humility and always seek your will.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Give us wisdom to know we are working to assist others in this discernment process. Open our hearts, minds, and ears so we may listen and do our work with unity, love, and respect.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Help us to insure it is your will we are seeking and not our own.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Give us joy and thanksgiving as we work together.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Make this place a sanctuary of respect and love, because it is only in your love we can freely state our minds and hearts.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer. AMEN

Those who are spiritual discern all things, and they are themselves subject to no one else's scrutiny. "For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”  1 Corinthians 2: 15-16

Closing Prayer

As we close, let us remember Christ Jesus has been in our midst and continues to walk with us.

Brief moment of silence

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2

Let us pray

Gracious Lord, for the blessings of this time together and for the work we have accomplished
We give you thanks

For the joy of working together in your name
We give you thanks

May the work we have done help others in the discernment process for your church in Wisconsin

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
AMEN.

And now as our Savior, Jesus Christ has taught us we now pray:

The Lord’s Prayer

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14
